General Requirements

Each family must complete a minimum number of meet-related volunteer slots in order participate on the swim team.

In order to run a single swim, each team provides 30 - 40 volunteers. With 5 NVSL meets and 4 FDL meets, that is OVER 300 volunteer slots per season for Villa, just to meet the needs of these 9 meets! Additional volunteers are needed for special meets (e.g. relay carnival, IM carnival, divisionals and more).

Swim team would not be swim team without the spirit events. However, please note that supporting spirit events does not contribute to a family’s minimum volunteer requirements. We can adjust the spirit events based on how many volunteers are available, but meet volunteers are stipulated by the leagues and are not flexible.

Minimum Volunteer Requirements: Parents of swimmers on the team must fulfill a minimum of 6 meet-related volunteer slots during the season. Parents of mini gorillas must fulfill a minimum of 2 slots during the season. Parents that have children in both programs need to fulfill 6.

When signing up for volunteer slots, please consider:

  • If your child is an A Meet swimmer, PLEASE volunteer for A Meets (away meets, especially).
  • If you volunteer for a slot and cannot make it, PLEASE contact the team reps ([email protected]) as soon as possible! It is challenging to replace a volunteer at the last minute, especially for an away meet.
  • If your child participates in special meets, your family must volunteer in order for your child to participate.

Volunteer Attire: Deck officials (starter, referee, judges, timers, and marshals) must wear navy blue shorts (no denim) and white tops. The tops cannot have team logos because officials are to maintain impartiality.

Thank you for helping!
